Jubilation
"I was impressed with the joyous spirit prevailing in the process of developing this ambitious campus project. In stile of dancing movement and tribal like imagery the sculpture should convey a feeling of “jubilation” symbolizing the successful completion of the architectural addition as well as referring to its purpose of artistic endeavors. The recognizable human elements in this installation are a definite step toward a better communication with the viewer as compared to my early abstracted sculptural structures."

Opera Duo
"I grew up in Düsseldorf, Germany between World War I and World War II, living through multiple crises of European culture. Economic and political instability on the Continent and the rise of Fascist and Communist ideologies presented a new challenge to world order. From the perspective of twentieth century developments in the arts, I was born into a time of pivotal changes in the art world embodied in Dada, German Expressionism, Neue Sachlichkeit, and Surrealism.
As a German soldier, I witnessed the invasion and eventual retreat of the German army from the Russian front. Memories of the battle of Stalingrad appear repeatedly in my paintings, as in War and Peace. My experience in the war has shaped my artwork to represent the arts in general."
