I Owe You One
"In this piece I used a clay making process that is a special kind of earth made by the decomposition of rocks through the action of weathering. It can be found anywhere, but it is only useful for pottery if it has good “plasticity.” You can test this by seeing how stretchy a piece of clay is. If you can take a piece of clay, roll it into a coil and bend it into a ring without cracking and falling apart, chances are it will make good pots and sculptures.
At times I will use specific techniques in order for the clay to hold together tightly. There are four different methods; pinch, slab, coil, and wheel. In, “I Owe You One”, I used about all of those techniques. Due to the 3D textures I couldn’t only stick to one method, and because of this I think this piece is most unique."
