One of the tenets of our Mission is to be an educational and cultural center that enriches lives in the communities we serve. This, for us, is accomplished in many ways; but most significantly through the Arts. We at Young Auditorium celebrate art in all forms - including visual art.
Since the construction of Young Auditorium was completed in Fall 1993, we have filled many of our expanses of wall space with unique and original pieces of art. As you walk through our l9obby or enjoy an event on the Fern Young Terrace, perhaps you have seen many pieces from our collection. Have you ever wondered where they came from?
The majority of the art that you see is displayed on loan from the artists themselves. Many of whom are former UW-Whitewater students, faculty, and friends of faculty members past and present. We could not enjoy all that we see in our collection without giving thanks to Lawrence Harrison, a UW-Whitewater Center of the Arts faculty member who engineered and installed much of the gallery here that you see today.
We invite you to take a virtual tour of each piece in our collection, taking some time to reflect on the creative energy of each artist, and the support we received early on in our establishment as an art and cultural center in our community. And we hope you have an opportunity to enjoy each piece in person at some point in time as well!
