Regina's Journey
"I am from Racine, Wisconsin. I received my Bachelor of Education degree at UW-Whitewater. The clouds began in graduate school; one could see the weather coming for days, unlike Wisconsin where it changes in 10 minutes. They became a subject that I could use to investigate any number of art ideas I had at the time. My paintings from 1988 on have been either all black paint or all white paint (with an interruption in the 90s when I did a large cloud painting commission for a church in Racine). I refer to my paintings as using the haptic (our sense of touch) and synesthesia (when one sense replaces another.) In regards to Regina's Journey the title is in honor of the mother of my friend Jonathan Silver. It is a secondary image of a woman riding a horse (in the heavens)."
